Our client, a pioneering and fast-growing medical device start-up based in Galway, is seeking an R&D Project Manager to join their high-performing team. Focused on innovative patient solutions in palliative care, the company is entering a critical phase of growth as it progresses toward product launch.

This is an exciting opportunity for a driven and hands-on project leader to take ownership of cross-functional R&D projects in a fast-paced, agile environment. You will play a key role in managing timelines, coordinating resources, and helping bring a first-in-class device to market.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee all aspects of R&D projects, ensuring delivery within scope, time, and budget.

  • Establish and manage effective communication with internal teams, external vendors, and stakeholders.

  • Monitor project progress across defined phase gates, manage risks, and adjust plans as needed.

  • Lead the development of detailed project plans and ensure they are continuously updated to reflect changing requirements.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and introduce best practices in project and agile methodologies.

  • Provide technical mentoring and direction to R&D team members to meet deliverables.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project updates, timelines, and resource alignment.

  • Support collaboration with external contract manufacturing and development partners.

Job requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in project management, preferably within medical device R&D.

  • Proven track record managing complex product development projects from concept to launch.

  • Experience working with contract manufacturers and external vendors.

  • PMP certification or equivalent qualification is an advantage.

  • Proficient in MS Office and project planning tools.

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation abilities, with the capacity to lead cross-functional teams.

  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, start-up environment with evolving priorities.
