Job description

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading stainless steel fabrication manufacturer specializing in high-spec solutions for the pharmaceutical, medical device, and food industries (e.g. metal fabrication, clean‑room fabrication). The company is currently seeking an experienced Production Supervisor with a strong background in welding and fabrication to lead their shop floor team.

This is a hands‑on leadership role where you will supervise production, manage workflow, coordinate teams, and ensure high quality, efficiency, and safety in a precision manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the daily operations of welding and fabrication production lines, ensuring schedules and targets are met.

  • Supervise teams of welders, fabricators, fitters, polishers, and related trades; provide direction, coaching, and performance feedback.

  • Read, interpret, and manage work based on engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Liaise with CAD or engineering departments to clarify design requirements (CAD experience is advantageous).

  • Plan and prioritise jobs for the week/month ahead, adjusting based on resource availability, urgent orders, or production issues.

  • Coordinate logistics of incoming materials and outgoing finished goods; ensure materials are available and workflows are smooth.

  • Monitor stock levels of raw materials and consumables; manage stock control systems and reconcile variances.

  • Identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies in production and drive continuous improvement initiatives (lean methods, standard work, process optimization).

  • Maintain high standards of quality, ensuring welds, fabrications, and finishes meet tolerances and specifications.

  • Enforce and promote health & safety standards, safe work practices, housekeeping, and compliance on the shop floor.

  • Report on production metrics, workflow, delays, and issues to operations management; propose corrective actions.

  • Occasionally provide hands‑on support (fabrication, welding, assembly) when needed to meet critical deadlines.

Job requirements

  • Proven experience working in a welding & fabrication production supervisory role (minimum 3–5 years preferred).

  • Strong knowledge of welding processes (TIG, MIG, etc.) and general fabrication skills (sheet metal, structural, stainless steel).

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD models (CAD experience is a plus).

  • Demonstrated experience in people management — motivating, coaching, scheduling, and resolving team issues.

  • Solid grasp of production planning, scheduling, and logistics to manage workflow effectively.

  • Familiarity with materials, fabrication tolerances, and metal behavior in a manufacturing environment.

  • Analytical skills and the ability to identify, investigate, and resolve production bottlenecks or quality issues.

  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills to liaise across departments.

  • A proactive, hands-on mindset — willing to step in and assist when necessary.

  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

  • Flexibility to occasionally work overtime (including Saturdays) when required.

Additional Details & Benefits:

  • Shift: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday overtime required.

  • Competitive salary and benefits, commensurate with experience.

  • Opportunity to work in a high-precision manufacturing environment serving regulated industries.

  • Career development potential in leadership, operations, or engineering functions.

  • Immediate interviews available for suitable candidates.
