Our client, a well-established manufacturing organisation, is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Officer to join their operations team.

Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, this role will be responsible for supporting and driving all aspects of the company's Health & Safety programme, ensuring compliance with legislation, promoting a positive safety culture, and maintaining safe systems of work across the facility.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive Health & Safety professional who enjoys being visible on the manufacturing floor, engaging with employees at all levels, and driving continuous improvement initiatives that contribute to a Zero Harm culture.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Health & Safety Compliance

  • Facilitate the implementation and ongoing compliance of Health & Safety policies, procedures, and safe systems of work.

  • Provide expert Health & Safety advice, guidance, and support to management and employees.

  • Review, update, and maintain Health & Safety policies in line with current legislation and best practice.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Health & Safety regulations and standards.

Risk Management & Auditing

  • Conduct risk assessments and support the implementation of appropriate control measures.

  • Identify workplace hazards and drive corrective actions to mitigate risk.

  • Schedule and coordinate regular Health & Safety audits and inspections across all departments.

  • Carry out regular Gemba walks throughout the facility to ensure compliance with safety procedures and safe working practices.

  • Monitor Health & Safety performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Training & Employee Engagement

  • Conduct Health & Safety inductions for new employees.

  • Deliver refresher training and awareness programmes as required.

  • Coordinate external Health & Safety training including:

  • Manual Handling

  • Fire Warden Training

  • Portable Fire Extinguisher Training

  • Lifting Equipment Training

  • Other statutory training requirements

  • Promote a positive safety culture throughout the organisation.

Incident Management

  • Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and hazardous occurrences.

  • Maintain accurate records and reporting systems.

  • Manage incident reporting through internal systems and statutory reporting requirements.

  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.

  • Drive the company's Zero Harm objectives.

Administration & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate Health & Safety records and documentation.

  • Monitor servicing and certification of Health & Safety equipment.

  • Coordinate and minute weekly Health & Safety Committee meetings.

  • Produce regular Health & Safety reports and KPI updates for management.

Job requirements

  • Recognised Health & Safety qualification.

  • Minimum 4 years' experience in a Health & Safety role within a manufacturing, engineering, industrial, or similar environment.

  • Strong knowledge of Irish Health & Safety legislation and compliance requirements.

  • Experience conducting risk assessments, audits, inspections, and incident investigations.

  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to engage effectively with employees and management at all levels of the organisation.
