Pale Blue Dot® Recruitment is hiring a Financial Controller for a growing medical device manufacturing company based in Bray.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Financial Controller will lead the finance function and support the wider senior leadership team. This is a hands-on role within an SME manufacturing environment, covering financial control, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, group reporting, ERP processes and product costing.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reporting packs and group submissions.

  • Manage month-end and year-end close.

  • Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets and inventory accounting.

  • Manage cash flow forecasting, working capital, banking and treasury requirements.

  • Coordinate the annual audit and preparation of statutory financial statements.

  • Ensure compliance with tax, VAT, payroll and statutory reporting obligations.

  • Maintain appropriate financial controls, policies and procedures.

  • Prepare budgets, forecasts and rolling financial projections.

  • Monitor performance against budget, forecast and financial KPIs.

  • Provide financial and commercial analysis to support pricing, investment, capacity planning and profitability.

  • Support capital expenditure planning and post-investment reviews.

  • Work closely with operations, engineering, quality, logistics and customer service.

  • Manage and improve financial processes within the ERP system.

  • Maintain product costing models covering BOMs, routings, labour rates, overhead absorption, inventory valuation and manufacturing variances.

  • Produce margin and profitability analysis by product, customer and project.

  • Ensure financial data is accurate across purchasing, inventory, production, sales orders and invoicing.

  • Lead and develop the finance team.

  • Provide oversight and support across selected back-office processes, including payroll, purchasing administration, customer service and logistics.

  • Support audit readiness, process improvement and documentation standards across finance and related functions.

Job requirements

  • Qualified accountant: ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CPA.

  • Ideally at least five years’ post-qualification experience in a senior finance role.

  • Experience within manufacturing, medical devices, engineering, plastics, high-volume production or another regulated environment.

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing finance and product costing.

  • ERP experience covering BOMs, routings, standard costing, inventory and profitability analysis.

  • Experience preparing management accounts, budgets, forecasts and reporting packs.

  • Strong knowledge of internal controls, audit preparation, statutory compliance, tax and VAT.

  • Previous experience managing or supervising finance staff.

  • Strong Excel and financial modelling skills.

  • Ability to explain financial information clearly to colleagues outside finance.

Experience within an SME, an international group reporting structure or an ISO 13485/cGMP-regulated environment would be an advantage.
