Job description

We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Automation Technician / Engineer to join a fast-paced, innovation-driven manufacturing environment. In this role, you’ll play a key part in designing, implementing, and maintaining automated systems that improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and support continuous operational excellence.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual looking to work hands-on with advanced automation technology while contributing to high-impact projects across production and engineering.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Design, develop, and implement automation solutions for manufacturing processes and systems

  • Program and modify PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.)

  • Install, configure, and commission industrial automation hardware and software

  • Diagnose and repair faults in automation systems, minimizing downtime

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on automation and control systems

  • Interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical drawings

  • Support system validation, testing, and performance optimisation

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams

  • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations and modifications

  • Provide technical support and training to relevant personnel

  • Identify and implement automation improvements to increase productivity and reliability

Job requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Degree or certification in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or related field

  • Minimum 2 years' hands-on experience with automation systems in a manufacturing or industrial setting

  • Strong PLC programming skills (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider)

  • HMI and SCADA configuration experience

  • Understanding of industrial control systems, sensors, instrumentation, and safety standards

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical documentation

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills

Desirable Technical Skills

  • PLC languages: Ladder Logic, Function Block, Structured Text

  • HMI/SCADA tools: WinCC, FactoryTalk, Ignition (or equivalent)

  • Networks: Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, DeviceNet

  • Robotics integration and VFDs/servo systems

  • Basic scripting or programming (e.g., Python, C++, preferred)

  • Electrical and pneumatic systems

  • Machine vision systems knowledge is a plus

Preferred Attributes

  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices

  • Knowledge of safety systems (e.g., light curtains, safety relays, interlocks)

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills

  • Capable of working independently and managing multiple priorities

  • Flexible and willing to respond to urgent technical issues when needed

  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and high-quality standards
